I left oracle some years ago. Recently I saw a former manager come across my LinkedIn feed. This guy was the epitome of incompetence. Throughout my time working for him, he was pathetic, he purposely didn’t hire a guy 4 times cause the guy was in his office and was more talented than him. Over the years the guy lost talented people. People that in the real tech world and not oracle mgmt, would crush him. One by one, we all left. The people that stayed, they literally can’t do anything else. What did I see happen to this guy? Promoted to director….to ruin more lives and not develop more people. I don’t know who I feel more sorry for….the people he has ruined or the lack of soul and the pathetic image he sees in the mirror knowing for the last 7-10 years I his main job was to approve vacations and turn people down for raises fir 3-5-7 years. I couldn’t live with myself. In fact, I would probably commit myself. The guy loved mistreating people. His home life was pathetic. It’s sad. That’s how you end up hurting more than helping. He will never get a job at any other company besides oracle.

That's because to get promoted you have to be shallow like them.
Oracle does a good job of allowing employees to get experience then layoff the smartest and the brightest .....so that the competition can hire only the best while Oracle keeps and promotes the shadow.
Many of these people, particularly managers, can appear very profound, but even a peripheral conversation will reveal just how shallow they really are.
Salesforce would hire these clowns. Explains why they are also going down the toilet
since leaving oracle I have found myself on a passionate team that has a former oracle folks at a different company (not even the same industry)... sometimes the boss will ask "hey I got a resume from this person at oracle do you know them?" and its always one of those folks who... half a-s their work at best and then you look at the resume and sure enough every point is hilariously embellished meanwhile said person barely grasps the concept of the technology their product runs on. I feel like there are so many folks that work there that quite honestly the industry has passed them by, Oracle has a reputation for inventing their own process and for everything, building it from the ground up and often re-inventing the wheel and people ignorantly defend it. When you encounter these over-inflated ego types in the real world they don't know anything. I know I sound like a total jerk but this is not everyone at Oracle, its specific people and those who work there know exactly what its like to work with these types... There are hundreds if not thousands of fantastic and amazing people who work at Oracle that keep the wheels spinning.
Oracle is a joke, people are hired for self-preservation and loyalty vs competency. There is a reason Oracle is the laughing stock of the industry.
I worked in a GBU. The managers were pretty much a bunch of wimps that bowed to the people at the top. Then we acquired a few companies led by some true clowns. Like people that have no right being close to tech, but they were at a company that had a product oracle liked. It's sad cause I feel like the REAL tech people, the people that have skills and worked real tech jobs, they dont have to deal with all this, but I could be wrong. It's sad what these managers have done to Oracle. It is really sad.
Too many people like this at Oracle, it’s amazing the company hasn’t crumbled yet. It’s just sad.
I guess that there are many managers just like this one!
