Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? I don't understand why there is so much animosity towards sales reps.

Wowza, you sound a little testy over there. Calm down, find your center...
Who cares, sales reps are gone soon anyways! Whine away!
Being a sales rep ain’t rocket science, nice try!
The annymosity is a front for jealousy and envy. Merchandisers can't do the job a sales rep does due to their lack of skillset. Most merchandisers have no tenacity, morals, or ethics, and they could care less if there's anything on the shelf for the customers to buy, but they want the pay, the recognition, and the benefits of the sales rep position without doing any of the work. Gross!
In response to the other comment on here….Maybe they “dont do any selling” because they are quite possibly busy throwing loads, writing orders, and doing DMI? Maybe even cleaning up a mess, fixing rotation or actually facing shelf/displays…You know, all the things that most merchandisers and FTOW’s don’t do? Also, I really don’t think the GPS hours for a “9-3 workday” as you say, adds up to 8 hours. Oh, and they're probably on Vacation because they've put in their time and earned their vacation weeks. Maybe one day you”ll get more than 2 weeks a year as well.
Considering their only job now is “ sales” and they don’t do any selling.
Go on vacation every holiday. Drive around in their cars and act all arrogant working 9-3 every day walking around stores and pretending to look for managers
