Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Doug Teff Layoffs

Looks like Doug Teff’s organization (MarketPoint - which reports under George Renaudin who supports Medicare and Medicaid) just received a zoom invite with no information or any agenda on who was invited. Are there any confirmed layoffs under Doug Teff? Does anyone have any additional information?

The WARN gets done if a certain amount of people will be impacted, maybe that RIF was lower than the threshold

I checked the WARN site. The most recent entry for Humana is for Florida, filed in November 2022 for layoff notices in January 2023. There is no entry on the site for the layoff in MP sales. There is no other entry for Humana in 2023.

The communication from leadership is Humana is exiting the commercial space as we were not competitive and not profitable in this area. This allows more resources for Humana to focus on growth in Medicare business. If we are concentrating on the Medicare space, why are the majority of MP sales staff getting let go. It doesn't make any sense.

How in the !!!! are we supposed to retain and recruit members when we’ve laid off 80% of our sales staff!? If they’re smart, they’ll take their customers elsewhere!!!

Lots of agents in targeted areas like rural areas were let go whole teams and territory’s gone. I heard some tenures agents were given severance options. Looks like Tracy came in and we’re running lean and mean. But no not everyone for now

1st SNPs are MAPD plans, and not just low income Chronic Condition SNPS and some DSNPs ARE statewide not just in areas serviced by CenterWell or Jencare. They’re being offered to go “broker” which allows them to contract with Humana BUT offer other carriers. Agents who are miffed by this can easily go flip the Humana business to competitors now. If you truly knew the business (T Nolan DOES NOT) then you’d understand why there are big time potential Mome fields with this

@2iev+1njoTNCS I thought SNP was MA? What's the website you mentioned below ?

I am sorry about the layoff, but poster, even if they are top performers, if they are in an area where there isn’t business growth or a Centerwell, it make’s business sense. Hopefully, with their skills they can be transferred to other departments. There’s been a big focus the past year or so on the areas and members they want to focus on- not MA but SNP. And, if you look at job openings, it seems the Centerwells are being rolled out pretty quickly. If the last day is end of August, then it’s 60 days, and Humana had to file a WARN notice. That may be the site to keep bookmarked on your personal computer to check every week or so, the filing is done before it happens

If agents are getting removed I’m assuming support areas will also be impacted. Unfortunate :(

Wow that is not good news for the rest of us when top performers or let go. Thoughts and prayers are going to everyone affected by this.

This is NOT commercial. This was the original heart and soul of the Medicare Advantage growth engine for Humana; career sales agents and managers who account for on average at least 100 NEW sales per agent. INCLUDING top performing agents and managers who had made Presidents Club levels. Right after announcing a record setting Medicare Advantage sales year and celebrating it on a “TownHall” and thanking them for their work, Tracy Nolan known for her previous RIFs at other companies, goes on vacation and leaves Doug Teff to ax hundreds of people only because they live in rural areas and those aren’t pints of focus anymore

Are these the ones relating to the closing down of the commercial line, which were to be expected within the year?

So if we are not managing commercial accounts anymore then they do not need these people anymore. Best to everyone affected.

So is Humana getting bought by another company? How are we going to continue? So strange.

So, when a national company in a high-demand LOB lays off it's people who BRING customers in...what does that tell you??

Run, people, as fast as you can away from the dying company...when this whale goes down, it will be nastier then you ever expected...

Take care all, I am BEYOND grateful to have already left that swamp behind.

@Sup? - The meeting was informing Sales Managers that they were laid off. Career Agents will be notified tomorrow afternoon. I’m hearing rumblings that 70-80% of MarketPoint was laid off. But I’m not sure if that percentage number is true.
