Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

They don't care

I think that this company never cared about the opinion of its employees nor their complaints.
So why do you think it will ever be different in the future? No, they don't listen to our criticisms at all, but they make good use of the fact that many people find it difficult to find a better offer.
That's why I think that in any case it's wiser to update your skillset than to expect some positive changes here, but many don't do that. Just saying.

As a people leader, I disagree. I want to be sure that my people and the people we are in contact with to perform our jobs are treated with respect. A happy worker is a productive worker and there is no need to micromanage when they feel a part of something bigger. We often fail due to choices outside of our control but we learn from it and move on. Our team sets realistic goals that have to be strived for but without stressing people or treating them unfairly. If you have a poor management structure, call it out here or on your pulse surveys. Many leaders have left in the past year due to investigations in the way they were really treating people. We all deserve respect and we all deserve a chance to contribute.

There are way better jobs at companies that care way more, don't build or offer unrelated waste of time and money services or products to be anything but a wireless company with no profits. This company is the worst and you have to have an exit plan or else they will work you to death then cut you for no reason (oh well you are over 50 and have way too much experience, and a voice, and common sense....). So that's that - go while you can redeem some sense of normally - it's out there.

It’s a business- they compensate us with a paycheck and benefits- not a small family business. Same everywhere. Just stands out more as they hone down and refine the process which unfortunately means reducing expenses which includes headcount. We all have options

This is a moot point. It doesn’t matter anymore.

No company cares about anything except profit and share price. Employess are expendable assets. All employee engagement, feedback, surveys, appreciation days and anything else to make us feel good are only there to keep us from unionizing.
