Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Does the Firm have a mandatory vacation policy???

I have been working here for a couple of years and ask if anyone knows is there is a firmwide requirement that you must take at least one weeks vacation? I work with a woman who never takes a vacation day? Is this possible my last employment had a one week off mandatory vacation policy.

Depends if you have a role that touches cash or not. There USED to be a policy that required folks who handled money to take a week or two off every year. This was to weed out theft supposedly.

For your good health, everyone should take a vacation at least once annually. You can suffer from job burnout otherwise.

not mandatory and you don't take them by year end, you lose them. Can only carry over a couple of days max

This is terrible. This shows Management pretends to be concerned about their employees yet ignore these situations or have policies that ignore these situations. I wonder if the managers even tell some groups who have limited access to workstations due to their job functions of available time off. There are many in low paid manual jobs at the bank that this limited access to the company's intranet.

I wonder if this is how these managers use the policy of not forcing one week vacation as a way to manage low headcount. For these managers "Ignorance is Bliss", for their budget.

You can cash out your vacation days when you leave but you lose your sick and personal days. She may be preparing to leave or bracing for layoffs.
Mandatory vacation only applies to those with access to important financial data, I believe, to prevent insider trading. Otherwise you can keep as much as you want and carry a few days if you stay with the company to year end.

Where I am in AWM, it was strongly preferred that people took off at least 1 week consecutive, because if you have a key man dependency situation, it would show up when you're gone.

I dont think it was strongly enforced, its highly dependent on manager.

It depends on the position and LOB. But not using them is losing them so not very bright.

It might vary by lob. I think some of the licensed/investment roles might have something to that effect, but generally in CCB, there’s no policy like that.

no... it is not mandatory that you take a full week, at least it my dept. I have not done that in over 5 yrs as I prefer longer weekends more often. You might need to check HRAnswers to be sure for your line of business
