Starting job search after Rush

I'm tired of being overworked, underpaid, and being forced to operate in dysfunctional systems with insufficient training or staffing. I'm tired of watching good peers crash and burn because they get no assistance. I'm tired of bandaids on problems instead of real fixes.
I'm tired of unrealistic expectations and impossible to follow directions. I'm tired of business partnerships with other dysfunctional businesses. I'm tired of having to choose between allowing a disaster that I'd be responsible for cleaning up or ki-ling myself to prevent it.
I'm tired of trying to keep unpleasant demanding campus people happy with us.
I'm tired.
As soon as Rush is done I'm looking for a way out. And I'm not alone.

Why wait until after rush? All of September will be busy, putting out fires, any Temps you got will be cut, text returns, it is never going to not be busy. Quit now, don't wait. Don't ki-l yourself with rush, not your problem.

Make yourself a priority. Don't wait until after rush, start today! I wouldn't work a moment over 40 hours,

Absolutely start now. I looked for 2 months and luckily had not yet missed a paycheck because of severence. Got on to see if there was any new news and found this. Question, no OT? So what about move in weekend? You work all week and most are open all day Sat and some on Sunday? I see crash and burn for Fall rush. I've done that job for 30+ years and couldn't do it all in 40 hours. Beat wishes to you and all those that are trying to stick it out

Many managers were demoted to hourly to "Campus store leaders". ASM to Leads. If you were not one of them, then good (or bad) for you. But same advice applies whether exempt or non-exempt.
It doesn't take that long to submit your resume. Make yourself your top priority and FIND THE TIME, because it will take time. Job hunting is not a fast process if you dont want to settle for Macy's or Taco Bell. Don't use Rush as an excuse, because there will be another reason after rush. What you are not in the middle of, you are preparing for. After rush, there will be fall events, and then returning texts and starting prep for next term. Spring term has a short turn-around. Add holidays and buyback, life will not get easier. Fall rush prep had all summer and a quiet campus.
There will never be a perfect time to jump off the wheel. Just do it. Follett is su-king the life out of you. LITERALLY.

Why assume they're hourly? Salaried management are in the same situation.

Of course you can look in August. You are hourly and OT is no allowed. 40 hour week.
It is no different than June / July. You no longer put in 10 - 12 hour days. Plus come in on Saturday to catch up.
You don't have to worry about adoptions or A/R. that is handled remote now. And temp agency is handling the recruiting. Follett has decreased your hours and your pay.
Plenty of time. August is not what it used to be.

Why wait until after rush? Who are you doing it for? You know it will only get worse.
And don't say for the students / Campus. If they care about you as much as you do them, they would be telling you to run.
And if they don't care, why stay. Let Follett feel the ramifications of their "plan".
Students will survive. If they do not find what they need in store, they will shop Amazon and have in 2 days. Why ki-l yourself to line Follett's pockets.
