No payroll budget forcing stores to run with 1 staff person. Had to use the bathroom and had customers in the store. Told them I would be right back and went to the bathroom. Health will always take priority of asset protection. Hope nobody took any items while I was forced to leave the store with no staff. I am sure LP will be a real problem since 1 person cannot help customers (or complete other tasks) and monitor all the customers. 1 person come in with a text question the another can back up the truck and empty the store since the only employee is helping a customer. I hope people from asset protection read this post and realize the risk to assets.

There is no way you can go into rush with 1 or even 2 people. It would be impossible.
You need to do what you have to or you will not survive. How are they going to enforce if you go over? Will they terminate? What does RM say when those impossible budgets are distributed?
With even rush hours and most only getting 40 hours for 1st week of rush and now lead is hourly, does that mean you are it or is there actually 40 plus Mgr? Football is coming and store a d field locatio s both need those 2 per policy for safety. I get they dont care but I would absolutely sue if I was robbed. I can't tell you how glad I am that I took the severence.
Correct. Just make sure you have it in writing from your supervisor (Manager or RM) that you were forced to do alone. Otherwise you will be fired for not following company policy. Maybe if they have to put their own name on it they will get you the extra help you need. If they dont, then dont do the event.
When are you going to realize... THEY DO NOT CARE! It has been this way for years! 2 people in the store only applies to big stores with a payroll budget. I was sent to off site events alone when policy dictates 2 people on site at all times. I always told my boss, If I get jacked for this money walking back from an event, I will sue YOU and Follett.

I remember the 2 people for safety policy. If I am alone, I will not go up on the ladder. Luckily the store is in a busy area on campus. I am sure some stores are off the beaten path and the 1 staff member could be calling for help for hours.
Once upon a time it was not only a LP issue but a safety issue. There needed to be 2 people in the store open to close. Think of how many things that could happen with only "one" person in the store.
Yes! One time I had my period and I was the only person there. A handful of customers just meandering around and I was about to have a “situation” that could not wait.
