Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

RTO = OFI

Great article in Fortune today about Return-to-Office policies resulting in increased attrition and difficulties with recruiting new talent. HPE's a great example of how the policy has driven many great people out of the company.

Of course, I also suspect HPE has used the new policy as a way to reduce headcount without the cost of WFRs.

However, the net result is they now have Offices-Full-of-Incompetents.

You must be smoking low-grade crack rock @yvwl+1nTskDaI! My site is pretty large, and only about 30% are going in 2 to 3 times a week. This is not going to change, as there are plenty of other higher quality employers out there hiring for 100% remote roles.

Anyone that thinks they will escape RTO are fools. No company is going to pay for empty buildings they can't sell. Unless you can start your own company, you are going back to the office. Get used to it.

And yes, the double benefit is that by demanding RTO, the companies can expect to lose a certain percentage of employees automatically. The good thing is that there are tons of people ready to take their jobs and go to an office. Going to an office is the norm. Working from home is the exception.

@hrzt+1nTskDaI what decisions have they made recently? I pretty much ignore most emails and take it 3 months at a time until.the next round.

The old buddy system of people like McAnally and Goran Misak making decisions that only benefit themselves and their careers have made HPE the worst run company I’ve ever seen. Pure incompetence…

HPE is using the RTO to get people to leave. Mark Hurd used a similar ploy when he forced employees to move to Rio Rancho N.M. Hurd gutted the Colorado Springs campus and other locations forcing employees to quit or move to Rio Rancho. HPE never fulfilled their promised employee quota to N.M. NM lost their shirts in that deal. Never trust HPE.

RTO is necessary otherwise the good for nothing people’s managers who are already deemed redundant would become even more useless.

I was contacted today by a recruiter for a contract position at HP. Sorry, I don’t want to work for Furlough King Computers.

No doubt about it: they're using the RTO to reduce their severance payout when the large scale WFRs occur. I hope customers take note and infer the quality of what remains appropriately.
