Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Another Wave of Layoff in Tech Sector

Another wave of Layoff's is might happen in tech sector before the end of this year. Most of these companies have accumulated debts in their balance sheets (Example: Oracle has 14,000+ in its balance sheet).

Today 8/1, REF painfully sad.. These wonderful people keep our buildings running smooth. Not sure how well the outsourcing company will do.
I'm sure they can all hire onto the company Oracle is outsourcing their jobs to. It's time to adapt to the real world.

So are you ready to adapt to the real world? Doesn't sound like you understand ..... it's like someone mentioned on another thread,,,,LE & SC are the only jobs at Oracle that are secure and SC's job might be questionable. Be careful what you say - it can come back to anyone ...with a vengeance....
The comment " will never happen". ..... It could happen to you.
We are living in uncertain times.

Outsourcing to JLL could be short term. They probably have the listings.
Subleasing and in some cases (Nashville) sales.
Things are changing faster than ever in Technology and Oracle didn't keep up before...and you might be faced with relocating to a very different type of place ....that no one wants to go. If you are who I think you are - chances are good that you will not be where you are much longer.

The REF people at my office are generally the nicest people I’ve met in all my years at the company. I find most of them friendlier and easier to talk to than my direct colleagues. I feel bad that my non-attendance at the office is effectively contributing to the RIFs they are going through. Unfortunately there is very little need for me to be at the office, and the rising costs of living and commuting mean that I’m not going to travel there unless I absolutely need to. I genuinely can’t afford it any more. I hope those people find new jobs elsewhere, I know many have gone on to better things or some of them have moved into other roles. Good luck

The real estate and facilities action is a no-brainer. It's a move based on economies of scale, the same reason Oracle has customers who purchase its own cloud services in order to fire their own tech workers. Oracle's core competency is tech (some would argue this point), not real estate and facilities management. Hence the elimination of REF. These are harsh realities, but today's realities nonetheless.

Sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience with facilities. It’s still painfully sad that people will be out of work. Peace and love.

BTW, my experience w REF emps was not all that positive. There were some relics who were more interested in power tripping real employees than providing any real help or value.
