Retail store shoplifting and employee theft

Has anyone else noticed an increase in shoplifting within the stores and employee theft over the last few years ? I was on a security call recently and SEVERAL stores are missing thousands of dollars in accessories and phones. I guess I’m able to understand the high end accessories missing but phones as well ?

It's simple: profile the thieves and have them arrested. Wait...

We all know who is doing the stealing. Check the cameras!

At this point why should we worry about shrink and inventory when I have to worry about when they are going to close my store.

It’s the POS system. I’ve witnessed failed activation transaction ( which are common) no deplete accessories. The store now takes a hit. It takes too much paperwork and research to focus on something that should be very trivial for multi billion dollar company like ours.

I believe it when I worked in retail there was a rep who would “demo” the power banks to customers and we’d always end up short on those, same with AirPod returns they would always go missing on days that rep would work. I told my direct leadership but nothing ever done about it

They need to pull their heads out of their as--s. Everything is on camera at all times.

The real problem, is the garbage POS not depleting inventory and the amount of micromanaging you need to do for inventory to insure you don't get reamed by having to batch it out.
