Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Never good enough

I've had enough of this place. I don't think of myself as the best employee ever, but I'm tired of my boss suddenly not liking anything I do. Has anyone else experienced this? I've sent a bunch of applications to other places and hope I get lucky.

Not liking anything you do or not liking poor results? If one or two reps are tanking the store in a team environment, trust me everyone is complaining about you especially if you’re staffed low and stick out. You could be the nicest person in the world but your management has to look out for the team and their job in this environment big red has created. Not saying this is your case but usually it’s the reps that really can’t sell that complain/ but if you’re still performing and hitting goals and feel like your treatment is unfair ask if their is an issue you are unaware of?

If you don’t like working there, quit…

Worked here for 10 years and never once felt like my efforts were appreciated by the company. There was always a metric you could do better at. Eventually the 1 on 1 meetings just turned into me being a yes man. Just keep nodding and acting like you care. And even that was tough to do. In one ear, out the other. Just keep giving your bare minimum efort til you find a way out of there. No will know, you won't get fired, who the F cares. Maybe they should take care of their employees better. So glad I left!

Verizon, like many other companies will punish successful employees. Used to be in the form of higher quotas, which hurt the bottom feeders too. They got sick of hurting the bottom feeders, hence socialist commission. Krista must have thought she was the black female Robin Hood. Robin Hood always should have been a black female though

Absolutely, that is the worst thing about working with big red. Your best is good enough for today, tomorrow do better. They are blatantly transparent about that part, what that don't say is your best is never good enough, so you never get to be better lol. It's always "nice ok do that plus twenty percent more and you'll be there. " EVERY CONVERSATION.

It's a very tough work environment when you don't feel appreciated. The problem is the percentage is never going to be high enough for them and the only way to get there is exert pressure on already pressured employees. This also helps when they plan on laying employees off later on, since those employees will just leave due to the unnecessary pressures.
