Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Confused

Walt said a main reason for RTO is so that we could develop leaders. However, this is the 3rd round of layoffs he has done in less than 5 years and if he truly follows the inverted pyramid this means he is laying off a bunch of leaders. Why would we want to go into these roles if they are consistently being laid off? Sorry not for me

I straight up told my manager I have no interest in a 9/10 or leadership role - I will stay a client facing “individual contributor” to have layoff insulation and work/life balance and when money is an issue I will lean into my U4 approved side hustle

The guy contradicts himself every 2 minutes. I'm cringing for him listening to these recordings.

Walt also had difficulty justifying his belief that you need to be in the office to be identified as having leadership potential. When someone asked about a pathway to leadership for someone who is fully remote due to an office closure, he said those people would simply need to make an extra effort to make themselves seen and heard.

Maybe a good idea would be to have some sort of training or coursework for those that want full remote but also would like to rise in the ranks would be a good idea, versus maintaining office leases and ownership of real estate. But that’s just me.

Yes. Will gladly develop into a leader going into the office where NONE of my team is- while getting no work done because people will know how to find me and harass me IRL instead of on teams.
