Verizon: Verizon and AT&T, Investors Have More Than Lead Cables to Worry About

Big telecom companies are working to reassure investors about two burdens: toxic lead and heavy debt. Questions about the latter will linger in the background this week as AT&T and Verizon use their quarterly earnings reports to address more immediate questions about lead-lined cables. Both companies inherited a web of aging telephone lines from their predecessor companies but reap almost all of their profits from more modern fiber optics and cellphone connections. Why all the downvotes on facts. There is a lot of lead out there. How about I wave my magic and and make the lead disappear. Upvotes for all!

Why after 30 years working with lead all of a sudden company emails us saying they offer free lead testing?

I don't see the problem. Just send the union in to take care of it.

There are hundreds of miles of lead cables in nyc alone.

Just turn off all wireless, wireline, and Internet service to the latest bout of whiners and that will put and then this will put an end to their latest shake-down schtick while frightening off imitators. The scary thing to remember is that some of these people arrived with the ESG/DEI movement, so there is a 5th Column inside the gates. They will be back to pushing single-ply, single-sheet as soon as they are done having everyone cook on hot pavement. Fire produces too much smoke and carbon excess.

AT&T didn’t inherit anything from anyone, they built it. I can’t really believe there’s a whole lot of lead in the field still, but they’ll make a big deal about it anyway.
