Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

HR is a tool of force, cruelty and coercion

Tucker Carlson once again bats it out of the park in his apt description of corporate America transitioning from 'Personnel' to 'Human Resources', and asking those low moral people working in HR that they should examine their consciences.

(Human Resources) have made companies more heartless and cruel, driven by legal considerations, rather than valuing people as individuals.

And we learned yesterday that Congress is, in fact, looking at the phone companies who actively squelched texts that did not obey the approved COVID communications.

Hans is as short a timer as the silly man heartless soulless lawyer trying to play telephone man. Perhaps he classifies himself as 'Telephone They'.

HR is simply impotent, and it only serves as a rubber stamp; this is not only trues at Verizon but throught this industry. Anyone expecting an HR Dept. to play a role as an independent and just entity without a bias needs a rude awakening. HR is nothing but a body that only protects the interest of the company and makes sure that rules/policies are followed. It blindly takes instructions from upper management to take any actrion.

My 2 cents, do not expect much from HR departments they are toothless to take any actions indepedently with any inputs from parties in position and power with in the company.

“ transitioning from 'Personnel' to 'Human Resources', ”
That happened before I was born and I worked at GTE.

@dud+1nIJhNEo is a fool who has not likely studied business much and therefore no knowledge of Dr. W Edwards Deming. This is the reason that sales are down, the stock is down and disunion in the ranks and chaos at all levels of the company is up. This is the kind of person that really does need to be laid off for lack of basic business knowledge. His insights regarding capitalism are comical. Probably thinks Adam Smith is over in FPA

You live in a capitalist country and you are surprised that this is how things are going. The company’s only duty is to their shareholders. Maximum profit is the only motive, everything else is secondary. If you think the company should care about you as anything more than an asset to be exploited to drive profit you are in the wrong place.

And no offense, but Tucker doesn’t care either with his faux populist rant.

HR is not your friend. They are hired to protect the company and will use any means to do that. Don’t contact them unless it’s last resort. If you file a complaint, you are opening a case against you, not the other person. They will act like they have some ethics, but they don’t.

Super d-mb if you think HR makes those decisions. Be mad at leadership.

Its true. HR people must not have souls. I am old enough to remember when personnel is who you called for any questions about health and welfare benefits. Now there is not a soul over there that can tell you about your plan or help you when you have a problem. That is what the VRUs are for now. Press 9 to end this call.

I think their whole gig now is about how to pick out who and how to lay them off when the time is right. Once the company was viewed as a stable source of work and income and had a great image with consumers. Not anymore! HR is a big part of that breakdown. You are not a person to them you really are just a widget to be used and abused until it is time to discard you.
