Vague Job Titles

Does Humana use vague job titles as a way to pay employees less?

For example, Humana has a Technology Leadership Professional job title, but a “Professional” is so vague and non-descriptive. But when you look at the job description, you see that they do unit testing, mocking, and are responsible for hardware delivery. That’s essentially a Software Developer. Are they getting paid a Software Developer wage?

If Humana gives employees a vague job title, with Software Developer responsibilities, without the title, wouldn’t that place the employee at the bottom of the pay scale? I feel like Humana’s job titles don’t translate well on a resume and they don’t accurately reflect what the job is. Do you feel like your job title at Humana is too vague, and do feel like you’re fairly compensated for the nature of your work?

I’m interested to hear your thoughts.

Humana + CenterWell job descriptions are intentionally elusive. Not so much in my opinion for compensation purposes, but for what they can "task" you to do, build, and manage.
I've held titles like: Executive, Lead, and Associate Director.
My executive title entailed me maintaining the relationship with large health systems and serving as the liaison to Humana.
My lead title had to do with building and scaling a national program, but evolved based on who I reported to and during this time I had 4+ managers.
The experience at Humana or any of its subsidiaries is 100% influenced by who you report to. My first boss was a micromanaging nightmare, who came up thru Humana's MBA pipeline program.
2nd boss- not suited to manage human capital. "Yes Man" to executives. And elusive in what he wanted to be done. Minimal on the ground experience, was a consultant prior.
3rd boss- shiny resume, no knowledge of the business, or how it functions- came from a financial institution.
4th boss- worked for 3rd boss 7 years prior. was her friend. got rehired to Humana. I spent most of my time building decks for executives for meetings that they never showed up to.
5th boss- phenomenal leader, forced to leave the organization due to "restructuring"
6th boss- shiny resume, no interest in managing people, and text messaged other people during our 1:1s
7th boss- verdict still out.

Compensation is all over the place for these roles and what's worse is they plead "fair market value", but that also depends on who you are and who you know.

Yes, very vague, not due to pay but due to responsibilities
