Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

A question of loyalty

I must admit that I was very surprised when I found out that my colleague got a great offer but decided to stay here. Can't help but wonder why people continue to remain loyal to Fiserv? After all, I feel no loyalty to this company at all.

I personally enjoy the work the people and the variety of technical and procedural opportunities I face on a daily basis. I’m sure some on this layoff site have been hurt and it’s understandable. If you believe in God, he may be closing a door for you and opening another. My prayer is you to find the right position, learn from this difficult time and live a happy productive life enjoying the now and letting go of what’s behind.

I would say that it is purely stupidity vs loyalty. Or they are gutless.

TLDV: some corporate HR guy on youtube (A Life After Layoff) said that most people who accept counter offer will eventually leave within 1-2 years anyway
The reason is if you are willing to switch jobs it is not just about money but also some other things too. They will not dissapeare with pay increase...

Prior to the "merger", it was somewhat common for Fiserv to actually counter-offer for current employees that received a better external offer. Perhaps this still occurs?

The dirty secret is: you can only stay ahead of the market curve if you leave or try to leave (assuming they match or exceed the other offer).

Fiserv either matched your colleague's increased salary, made other promises that the colleague believed, or both.
