Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Pay increases after you quit

Sometimes I find it hard to believe when people start talking about pay increase they got after leaving this place. Is it really true or do people like to exaggerate?

I tried to get a new job, but for now I am not able to get any offer that would be much better paid.

HPE is so political. Too many adderall loaded, inexperienced executives fu----g things up. I should have left after my hiring manager retired. Hindsight 20/20. I’m working towards leaving in 2024.

Some make more money after leaving and some don't. Like gambling?

Been out of HP/HPE since 2015 (just before the split) after 19 years. I regret not leaving the company immediately after the Compaq merger. From 2001 to 2015 I barely got any salary increase and had lame yearly bonuses that ranged between 2% to 5%. I am ashamed about myself. I shouldn't have allowed HP/HPE abuse me and that is exactly what I allowed due to my fear of uncertainty and doubt. I lost so much money and so many opportunities. Don't do this to yourself. Stop the nonsense and leave now.

Speak to a few members of your team and a few colleagues from other teams. You will then notice a pattern: 5-8% are paid properly, with everybody else being around 20-40% underpaid when compared to the larger job market for similar roles.

It's simple. If you can't get more money, you either are overpaid by HPE or don't have skills that anyone wants...

There are a lot of underpaid engineers at HP and HPE. I use to be one of those guys. I left HPE after I was moved over to a new team that had a bad reputation. My biggest concern was HPE upper management. They seemed to be clueless about the direction of the company.
I found out that there are a lot of companies willing to pay for my kind of experience. I did get a 40% increase (without the bonus) but I didn’t leave for the money. I left because I finally realized that HPE is in serious decline and my career was in limbo.

I took the HPE buy-out in 2020. I was sick of HPE. I landed a job with a base pay increase of 21%. With bonus, it's 48%. Yes, you heard correctly, BONUS pay! I worked at HP/HPE for 20yrs and the largest bonus I ever received was less than $4K.
I recently had several friends with 20+ years recently laid off from HPE.
Keep looking, don't give up. There are much better places to work than HPE.
