Does anyone have any insights on how many employees have been laid off? I heard a rumor that numbers were more than 1,000.

Not nearly big enough.
Aria gives a bad indication. It is a smoke screen. 100 experienced and productive employees may have been chopped, oboe to be replaced by 100 young kids who have never worked a day in their lives - but at 25% of the salary- and Aria shows no change.
If you really want to know, take the total count in Aria each month and keep track
