Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

At least there'll be fewer layoffs for a while

I'm not taking pleasure in other people's misery, but at least those who decide to leave due to RTO will help those of us who decide to remain. I believe that if the attrition is large enough, there will be no need for layoffs for some time to come. That's the only silver lining I can find in this situation.

We are already severely understaffed and can’t hire talent because we don’t pay market rates, so there may not be layoffs but the workload on those that remain will only continue to increase, and pay will certainly not keep up.

Which bank exactly are you going to run to that will let you WFH?

…waiting…

That’s right, there isn’t one.

The role of HR has changed. It is no longer about "Human Relations", it's now about maximizing productivity. With HR Analytics, the HR people now work with management to help them find skilled talent while minimizing compensation variables. You are no longer a human being to them with actual needs and concerns. You are simply a row in a spreadsheet.

And please remember - the HR folks are the same ilk as management - All those self-centered college Business Majors who were in fraternities and sororities have to do something to make a living. They are reunited with this new analytics-based Management/HR relationship, looking for ways to stick it to all of you, 'the little people'.

And BB&T used to refer to us as “human systems”…never forget to do what is best for you and your family. Truist will do what is best for Truist (although the stock price reflects ELs perspective on what is best isn’t ideal)

Remember you “Teammates” are merely Human Capital in the SunTruist world. I don’t have to tell you what that means do I?

If I'm going to work at an office it might as well be for a better company. RTO takes away the "switching costs".

It's the lack of backfill for attrition that worries me. Expect more complaints and customers fleeing to our competitors.

I predict that within a year or two, WFH will no longer exist anywhere. Accept it. It was great while it lasted, but it's time to go back to the salt mines, wallow in misery, and endure the endless humiliation rituals. "They" will win. They always do.
