Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Any ideas of full scope?

I’ve been around for a while and seen multiple different layoff and reorg type situations firsthand, but never one that has been so closely guarded and vague. How many folks? What teams? What is the business impact here? Several meetings throughout the day with SLT and I feel like I have no more information than when I went in. Very boilerplate PR-type talking points but no real context or color.

I am hearing they will PIP 15% of the entire US workforce by end of summer.

This is just the beginning. There are going to be so many more firings and layoffs as all the groups get to the staffing levels set for next years budget.

Like most large corporations, the company has gone to woke with hiring based on s-x or race that they have lost a ton of talent. Until this politically correct cr-p goes away, you will never retain good people again.

That was my exact sentiment! Feels like they wasted so much time today to say nothing. Oh wait... I did get the jist of why they layed off so many people but I thought they were gonna provide more details as well on those impacted but my last meeting basically told us to be empathetic to our peers and not allow this to affect our work because it still has to get done. I guess we'll know more when they explains how the changes are gonna impact individual processes. Nevertheless, grateful to still have a job and praying for my friends that will no longer be here.
