Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Is it really worth it?

I know several people who say very openly that they can't wait to get on the cut list. I understand that to some extent, but is it worth waiting and in the meantime missing out on great opportunities? I don't intend to wait and waste time here.

Its not worth the wait if you’ve been moved to unlimited PTO…

When you have been with a company for 25+ years you wait to be on the list. It wasn't always bad...but now it is. It's much easier for a younger person to get up and go. Yes I want a severance to hold me over while I find a new job. And yes my only perk is those 33 days a year I'm off.

Each scenario is different. If you’re close to retirement it is definitely worth the wait. If you have built up a lot of holiday days it may be worth the wait. It is a very personal choice with many factors that need to be considered.

Do not wait! Be proactive and control the terms on which you leave.

If you are able to find a btter job, its always better to leave on your own accord

Many of those people are so overloaded with work - they don't have time to look for another job. Hiring processes at many companies are so abysmal, it is like a full-time job to get hired there

They're saying it because they want "free" money for severance. In my opinion it's always better to leave on your own terms. You will be making more of a statement and likely make more money overall since your new job probably won't pay peanuts like fiserv does.
