Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Fresh start

It was hard leaving Medtronic mainly because of the pay. Then I decided that my salary would not play a part in my job search. It was not an easy decision, but once I made it, it felt like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest. It didn't take me long to stumble upon a job that caught my interest and allowed me to explore different aspects of my field. Yes, I am paid less, but the daily mental stress is gone. I enjoy what I do for the first time in years. I can't recommend this approach enough.

Yes most MDT people are not my cup of tea, there is no culture but a nauseating environment, everyone seems miserable, constipated. Sr directors are bitter, unpleasant.
I must say out of 20 people in my group there is two decent souls, the rest are kissing ars backstabbers, always afraid to do or say anything as micromanagement is king. There is no money to make any happy person deal with that kind of fu-kery
bye!

I’m in the exact same situation. Took a significant pay cut but my mental health is immensely better since leaving. I didn’t realize just how toxic it my group at mdt was until I’ve had a chance to reflect back with fresh eyes

Medtronic used to have the extremely strong benefits and job security that covered that minor pay discrepancy compared to peers; but with those both being gutted, Medtronic will suffer as it will fail to attract talent.

Have to remember that wage increases will outpace you with Medtronics 2% merit program... That's a major driver

Am I the only one who feels like Medtronic paid low? I did not make a lot of money there and I even negotiated to get $15k more than their initial offer. I now work for another large medical research company and my total compensation is $30k higher than it was at MDT.

Good job for seeing the light! Medtronic is no longer the company Earl Bakken founded.

I had this same approach. Money will come...once mental health deteriorates though, it's a downward spiral.
