Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Wish I never had kids

This is my third layoff in 4 years. I have student loan debt, medical debt, credit card debt and now I'm jobless with 3 kids. Making matters worse my rent just went up $480 per month (no upgrades). Learn from my mistakes be debt free, keep cost ultra low and really think about if its worth having kids. This is so incredibly stressful.

Don't understand Americans. We just create job profiles in their name and sign up for several other extra jobs for more money. Every child is a new aadhaar we use to get more jobs. I currently have three with Verizon.

I will say my heartfelt sympathy goes out to OP and all. You should never have to take into account having children because the economy is screwed up.

With that being said, do not worry, as we are all screwed both the childless, and ones with children.

However in order for the US economy to survive the next 10- 15 years, eventually-

  1. Inflation needs to stabilize and it will in next 24 months
  2. Interest rates need to stabilize. They will in next 30 months as inflation data stays stable.
  3. Salaries need to rise. This will happen in next 5 years.
  4. Both skilled and unskilled labor positions need to make their way back to USA. This will take about 8 years. With AI and other advances, some jobs will go away, however in order to have an economy of consumers, you need people to have money to consume.
  5. Within the next 3 or 4 years the whole WFH/ office building transition will be solved. Definitely by next 8 years or so. Commercial real estate will change completely if the American worker stands uo and says I am equally productive, and refuse to sit in traffic for 2- 4 hours per day just because you have offices you need filled. Those Commercial office owners will have to take these gem office buildings and convert them to residential apartment units in order to survive. The way to do this, is by working slowly, or not at all and doing 0 productivity in office and working solely while remote if hybrid or leaving in office positions vacant and not applying.

A true free market economy is a beautiful thing and if we all stick together as American workers, we have a chance to change history for our children and grandchildren

I have kids also and totally agree with OP. My granddad had 6 kids, paid off house, wife didn't have to work and paid off cars just working at sears as a delivery driver also had no debt either. I took the bait for life script 2.0 and now must be a slave to the system.

This is exactly why I refuse to have kids. I can tell these jobs to shove it at a moments notice. The system needs people like you in debt and desperate for work at ever decreasing pay.
