I can't wrap my head around why setting personal goals is necessary here. It's like we're going through the motions without any real purpose. What's the point of putting in all this effort to improve our performance when it doesn't even seem to matter in the grand scheme of things? Our compensation is hardly affected by our performance rating, and merit increases don't seem to be tied to performance either. So why should we bother striving for excellence when it's not going to get us anywhere? It's just a frustrating waste of time and energy.

You must have Weaver and company zoom this week. Find your purpose my friend.

Goals don’t matter, just put whatever is trending in the latest memos. Your merit, performance, and equity are allocated out of a pool by your management first, then they reverse engineer the numbers back to your goals. If you’re a favorite, they will take from others to give to you. More likely they take from most everyone so their manager can give some to them.
Corporate jobs are nothing more than endless "humiliation rituals", over and over and over. It's as if they pay you not to do a job, but instead to jump through a bunch of hoops for their amusement.
So you have something for your LinkedIn profile when you inevitably lose your job?
