Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

A severance question

I have a job offer and I can start as soon as next month. I wanted to wait before quitting in case I get laid off. I don't want to give up on severance if I have a chance of getting it. What I'd like to know is, what can happen if the company somehow finds out that I have a new job a week or two after being let go. Can I lose my severance?

Definitely don't quit, wait to see if you're laid off.

No. You still would get your severance.

It depends on location and local law. But while you didn't sign the resignation letter, you're allowed for severance in case of layoff. Nobody can push you to resign, even if your employer knows that you have a job offer from another company.
