Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Easier said than done

I have always said that there is no way I will do double workloads.
Many people say that, but then the next moment they do whatever additional work gets assigned to them.
I envy those who really manage to keep their manager from adding more to their plate, and don't lose their jobs in the meantime...

Mostly it's quality of work that suffers. I mean, you just have to do what you have to do to get stuff out the door. What stinks is that ultimately it falls on you and will impact your ratings and reviews. But they are so notoriously cheap how much does it really matter anyway?

Lot of folks are just scared sh1tless. Can't refuse more work until you die.

“Hello boss. I have 5 projects all due on Friday but I only have the capacity to complete 3. Which ones would you like to reassign or allow to fail?”

It’s time to push back. Let management know that you cannot accommodate the deadlines and let them figure out how to handle it.

It’s less about work added to your plate and more about how you approach your work. Sometimes you can’t stop them from adding more responsibilities to your plate but you can continue to work your normal 40 hour week. When you’ve hit your 8 hours log off for the day, the work will be there tomorrow. It’s really simple, just don’t work past your requirement. If deadlines are missed then deadlines are missed.
