Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

We knew it wouldn't last forever

It doesn't matter what I think about RTO, but how is it possible that people really thought that the company would not demand a return to the office at some point, that is, that WFH would last much longer or maybe forever? Those were crazy expectations.

Dude I was hybrid before covid, this isn't a return to norm, this is punitive.

I don’t recall any emails offering to pay for our added electricity, home internet, etc during the time we were “asked” to work from home. Sell some of the real estate that Fiserv has , save money and allow WFH

WFH is cheaper on employers. They save so much on overhead. Corporate building space is expensive as is office supplies, janitorial supplies, building upkeep, and those beautiful grey cubical walls aren’t free. How much did they pay in office space to use our homes? Our desks? Our home offices? Our home office supplies? They didn’t even pay someone to clean our WFH toilets while we worked like they do when we are at the office.

Why can’t we work from home? CONTROL ISSUES

With everyone leaving for fully remote or hybrid the new requirement for RTO will be Saturday thru Thursday.

If you listen to upper management in your region, they all praise the RTO and how happy they all are. It has also been said that if you don't want to go back to the office, then this is not the right company for you. But I wouldn't blame the management in your country about it, they are clueless just like you. First it was 2 to 5 days depending on where your position is in corporate hierarchy. Managers were required RTO for 5 days. After the outrage they change it to 2 days for all, then 3 and here we are 4 days Mo-Thr for all. I tried to change my contract to remote but they declined with response they will not employ new remote employees anymore.

Employees didn't expect to NOT have to work in office. It's about flexibility of choosing what works for your team along with your personal schedule on your WFH vs WFO days. Small things like this that don't really impact the company that much but make a huge impact on an individual employee's life are being removed which breeds negativity about the company. I enjoy working both in office and at home. But I dont like being told rules on when I can and cannot. Also they really should've thought through the parking and cube situation in Alpharetta and BH before making this mandatory. Poor communication and planning.

I was hired remote well before the pandemic. In fact, Fiserv spent years forcing people to be remote as they closed small offices to save on OH. Now we are on the fast track back to 1985.

What's next? We going to start sending files via physical tape?

Echoing everyone else here, full time WFH pre pandemic so yes, I did expect it to continue.

It’s possible because before Frank gave himself his crown, we were offered a flexible work arrangement. You could WFH full time if you wanted. And that was pre pandemic. So its not a pipe dream. It happened and it worked.

I’d love to work from an office however, they close my office during Covid and my nearest site is now 90 miles away.

People that have been working remote even before covid are being asked to come in

Not when you were hired as remote.

When I was hired it was under the stipulation that I'd have a 3 day in office hybrid schedule. My bad for not realizing HR at fortune 500 companies will lie straight to your face! Now I know for my current job hunt!
