Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Manager approved workplace accommodations

I know we’re all tired of RTO/accommodation posts, and here’s yet another.

I have a situation in my family where I need to work from home for the month of May (until the end of the school you’re basically). Not medical, just a temporary schedule change.

ServiceNow says that managers can approve a telecommuting request for less than 30 days. But it says that after the manager puts in the approval that it will be reviewed by accommodations management to confirm or assign it to a consultant.

Has anyone had any luck with a manager being able to approve a 30 day telecommute Accommodation?

Someone needs to start another site for all these HR issues. This is layoff forum. Why people can’t figure this out is beyond me. We don’t care about your HR issues

Everyone complains about Wella Fargo but in reality I find this company very accomodating for situations like this. Almost everyone had a family and has faced a similar situation. Unless youe manger is a real jerk.

Like @fas and others have said, your manager can approve you working from home the full month of May. There's no formal process for that, it's up to them. If it's longer than a month then that's when formal processes come into play like your manager's manager having to approve (depending on your manager's level), might need to go up higher. If your manager declines the request then you'll have to use PTO to get your 3 days a week in the office. If you're exempt, just use 4 hour increments so your half days count as a day in the office, so 6 total days of PTO. You could also request an unpaid leave, but your manager has to approve that as well. Bottom line is you need to talk to your manager for any of these options.

either send your manager an email asking for approval and if he says yes you are good and when you show up on an rto report he'll give them the reason why. If he says no then take PTO. What did we all do before COVID? you could also take a temporary leave of absence.

Hopefully you have a manager that is smart which most aren’t. The reason they don’t want to make exceptions is if you do it for one then you do it for all

I had a similar issue. My wife travelled overseas for 2 weeks leaving me with the kids.
RTO is completely out of the question
I sent an email to my Manager saying I would not RTO due to this
She said it was okay.

It’s not misinformation! Look up in ServiceNow, the Managers: Workplace Accommodations section. It says managers can approve specific accommodation requests including telecommuting less than 30 days. I’m trying to play by the rules here

It’s not daycare. My children are in school for most of the working day. Right now, we have a system in place for drop off and pick up. But for during May, I have a situation. It has to do with the commute since I’ve been moved to a new building an hour away.

Bunch of misinformation in this thread. The OP is using the word accommodation when they should not be. Yes managers CURRENTLY have the ability to grant exemptions from RTO for specific short periods of time. Do not go down the official accommodation route or that will be denied.

The company will not give you an accommodation for daycare. They can help you find daycare. Once COVID was over kids at home are not an option. Same with before and after school care. You have to make arrangements. I tried and my coworkers screamed not fair as they have no kids. So no to the request.

No. Daycare issues are not an accommodation. Only medical They simply don’t care so better make arrangements.
