Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Didn’t we used to get another week of PTO every 10 years?

I could have sworn it used to be that we got an extra week of PTO for each decade with the company up to 4 weeks after 40 years. I’m coming up on 20 years and just saw that I won’t get an another week until 25 years now. WTF when did that happen?

@1day That "huge gap" has been policy for at least 2 decades. Sure everything around it changed, but the gap didn't.

Hence the reference to "significant" changes. There's been some minor tweaks here and there, but I'm almost positive that there was always a gap between 10 and 25 as long as I've been here. Regardless, we have the monster gap now and it sucks.

Agree with lark. Being in the office I just come and go as I please. If I want to take the afternoon off I just leave. Sc--w asking time off. No managers in the Charlotte office to see me coming and going. One swipe of the card and voila. I do as I want!

The current policy hasn't been in place the entire 20 years you have been here. It changed a long time ago, but there didn't used to be such a huge gap. That was also when the first increase wasn't until you hit 3 or 5 years in (I forget which). It has changed a couple of times during the last 20 years, but I thought it was just another blow to long-term employees when they changed it the last time.

RTO means I now have unlimited PTO. Since my manager is MIA I come and go as I please in and out of the office and no one knows where I am. I do as I please when I want to work or not. Thanks Wells Fargo. Since you took remote away I am not conforming to your RTO. None of us are. We now have the freedom to do as we want.

they should move to an unlimited time off policy that way they don't have the liability on the books and studies have shown most workers end up taking less time off them if if they had a fixed amount. that being said they did change things up post wachovia. you get 18 days to start, then they add 5 days in January of year 3, another 5 January of year 10, and then another 5 January of year 25 which is it. I'd say it's much more generous than most companies plus if you consider the personal holidays in addition to the paid holidays and volunteer time you have a lot of time off available to you, even as a new employee

Yeah, you're thinking of the oooold days OP. This century the PTO only really significantly changed once, with the wachovia merger. The total number of days didn't change much but some holidays added and a couple pto days taken away and eventually 'given back' via "personal holidays". Outside of that there has been a gap between 10 and 25 years of service when you get 5 more days for a long time.

Typical entitled WF employee. You think you should get 60 days PTO when you only work 20 hrs a week.

@1nvb+1mk0keSq you have that backward, Norwest management stayed in control because they bought WF. WF executives were all pruned in the years following.

Norwest was completely in control, they just duped you into thinking it was WF.

Should have become a school teacher, the entire summer is off for travel and adventure.. wouldn't have to worry about losing your job, your pension would be amazing and secure thanks to taxpayers, you could have picked a easy major like drama, and you would get to complain about putting in a 3 hour days teaching.

This all changed when wells decided that Norwest was too generous and they cut everything. Remember Norwest used to give us $$$$$ for anniversaries. Now we get a cheap acrylic cube that YOU have to order if you want it. They hope once you get to 20 years you quit so they can start over with new people with no PTO and little severance if you quit.

12 year employee here, it’s unchanged from when I started.

I figure the 60 day notice period that starts immediately when you get the layoff call will help to mitigate the loss of that extra week. Getting reimbursed for any PTO not taken helps too.

20+ year employee here, there was always a gap at 20. No idea why.
