Construction at DSM Main Campus

I’m sure many of you fellow DSMers have noticed the extensive construction going on. From floors having offices/cubes completely removed, water/vending machines beginning to be removed, signs outside conference room areas that state “beyond this point to be fully demolished” to the nice little model desk they’ve conveniently located in the Connections area above the main cafeteria.

These model desks are clearly what’s about to be built out in our building so they can cram us in like sardines with the building consolidation. It basically looks like one full normal sized cube, separated into three sections with shorter to no walls.

We’ve of course not received any communication regarding any of this.

We’re going backwards, folks.

Are you talking about Jordan Creek?
All of the cube space in Jordan Creek (MM, ER, CC) is built on a 7x7 grid…wiring in the floor, electrical outlets, cables, etc. all run on this grid. It is why the larger “manager” cubes are 7x14…because it holds to the 7x7 grid. It seems it would be difficult to get away from this and have smaller cubes (e.g., 6x6, or even 3x3) How are they doing this logistically? And how could you divide a 7x7 cube into thirds…it would be less than 2.5 feet wide!

My sympathies go out to you. Wells Fargo is a cold company to work for. They seem to be going out of their way to diminish and frustrate their employees.

Wells Fargo Advisors has been packing us in like sardines on the Trading Desk for 10 to 15 years now. I’ve gotten used to it, but visitors express their shock when they see where and how we are working. This is aside from how Wells Fargo has allowed the building to deteriorate through the years.

The C-Suite and BOD have no respect for anyone or anything. We have to understand that, and then decide whether to stay or go.

Other companies are moving away from open seating, since they realize employees find it disruptive and less productive environment. As always, WF is way behind the curve.

The walls have ears, in Iowa.

Nothing like spreading disease and illnesses piled up on to of each other. Such miserable working conditions.
