Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Q1 Resigations anyone?

Anyone else see a mass exodus on the horizon? I think they fumbled this one.

Actively looking and hope to be resigning in Q1

Wait for Q1? It was my goal to send a message and quit before Q4 was over.

I "quiet quit" months ago. The management is so incompetent got my functional area they barely notice since I do my main duties. I got so sick of taking initiative and being treated with ire rather than appreciation I stopped taking any initiative.

I found a much better opportunity so why wait for Q1? What was once a standout on a resume is going to soon become an albatross around our necks. This company is immoral, bad for market competition with their seek and destroy acquisitions. As long as they tweet out a few shallow woke talking points its OK that they force their overseas contract manufacturers to work slave labor type hours because we can't plan ahead or make good decisions early enough. Tweeting global warming and DEI hysteria is like a get out of jail free card to not be politically attacked by the wokesters.

Anyone else really want to leave but have agreements in play?

@1bzt+1mes3fCW yes you will receive MIP even if you quit after FY end but before MIP checks are sent

If we resign sometime in May - after FY23 ends - Do we still get a MIP payout or no? (If there even is one this year.)

I’m 5 or 6 years from retirement, paid competitively, good benefits, modest pension and respected for my skill set at Medtronic. While I hate the direction the company is headed right now, I work to live, not the other way around, and I’m not interested in climbing any more career ladders.

I’ll stick it out as long as possible, and hopefully some future VERP or RIF may line up in 5 or 6 years.

I had been looking for a while. Got an offer. Took it. I resigned today. I don't believe in the mission anymore. Management is a joke executed by unqualified people. I am sad to leave my team but not the company.

RIR didn't impact me. Actively looking to get out. But it's pretty tight market outside now, need to coast along until I find something. Hopefully it's sooner than later.

Best is not to leave without severance pay. If you are part of the RIF before the year-end, it would need them to pay the full year’s MIP, which you won’t get otherwise with this performance. If RIF falling in FY24, there won’t be any MIP in severance pay as the year just began.

It’s better to leave if you are still around as it would be extremely poor quality talent remaining with you.

Yeah. I actually had a really great interview today and am hoping I get an offer soon. I was actually hoping I’d get RIFd and have a severance package I wouldn’t need and could use for fun. Hah

They take expected attrition into account
E.g. if they want to target a 10% reduction in headcount they may fire 8% and expect another 2% to leave via attrition

At first I thought of looking elsewhere but then I changed my mind because I realized that that's probably exactly what they'd want me to do. If they really want me out, it's going to cost them my severance package.

The good ones will leave once they realize it’s still going to be a sh-t show. And the bad ones will stay because they will put up with anything because they can’t find another job. Company is going down and it’s sad!

Yes but will be the good ones who leave

I think they want people to leave. No severance if people choose to leave and then those positions just won’t get backfilled.
