Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Humana employee insurance change

Employees received an email today:
On July 1, 2023, Humana associates, their covered spouses/partners and eligible dependents enrolled in the Traditional and Clinic S medical plans will automatically transition to a medical plan and provider network administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). BCBS was chosen based on its large provider network and reputation for excellent member experience. In addition, its strong provider contracts allow for cost-effective healthcare for associates and their families.

We are pleased to be able to directly pass some of those cost savings on to our associates through a “premium holiday” in which four weeks (two pay periods for associates paid bi-weekly and four pay periods for associates paid weekly) of medical plan deductions will be waived during the month of July. Deductions for surcharges and additional costs will continue during the premium holiday. Payroll deductions will resume at their pre-transition amounts after the premium holiday.

This decision was made after careful consideration, and Humana is confident that BCBS will help support the health and financial well-being of our associates and their families. Over the coming months, this transition will be handled with the utmost care to ensure peace of mind and continuity of coverage for eligible associates.

Note: The following information applies only to associates on a Traditional or Clinic S medical plan, including those utilizing the Cigna network and the Virtual First Health Plan. CenterWell Home Health, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Clinic E (CenterWell and Conviva clinicians located outside of Florida) associates will remain on their current medical plans through the end of 2023.

Doctors like BCBS. More providers are in their network.
