So anyone know how the stores are doing? Wonder how many people got charged for rentals that were not properly checked in.

If you have to close a store due to lack of staff, you have failed. Im not sure if it’s just the one store, but I would imagine it is happening a lot. This leads to less sales.
But I guess having staff that can go on this site and rave about the company during working hours is the priority. Like someone said before, they must think the shareholders read this site😂
The problem...The fat was not trimmed. Instead you trimmed the meat and the heart. You trimmed the people who cared and gave 110% for the stores success. To really "trim the fat" you needed to start at the top. Instead you let the top hand pick their personal minions for promotions which only added to the fat. I know for a fact, most of those selected were not qualified. Many will fail or leave. Now the ones who could have pulled this off are gone. Id--ts. You deserve what you get.
Fall Rush will weed out the weak. All these new hires came in for summer semesters which are basically pretty slow, you don't have the athletes or many of the AR accounts, BUT come Fall.... especially the first day of class look out. I have seen many employees walk out on the first day because they couldn't handle the pressure and there will be pressure. The people sitting in Home office have no idea as they are not in the trenches with those of us in the stores, but we will see.
Three cheers for RP & HF! Low paid staff to increase the profits of JRC investors. Trim the fat (aka employees) and improve the investors (who have no connection to higher education) bottom line. Hey Taco Bell and Macy's recruits - just remember you are making a lot less and doing a lot more. Good luck!
Yes companies reset and cut expenses from time to time. No one is irreplaceable. That’s the point. It was a business decision. Not personal. An attempt improve. After years of complaining on this board it’s what everyone said needed to be done. Yet more complaining. Some people will just complain.
Fat Trimmed A JRC motivational tool. Hey Macy recruits know you too are fat to be trimmed at the appropriate time.

So, "some fat was trimmed" is how you refer to employees?
Way to make people feel valued.
Why are any counter arguments dismissed as propaganda? It’s reality. IA is growing. GM is growing. Some fat was trimmed. The business shifted. Just complaining doesn’t mean any of that is not true.
Yeah, doing great! Follett family was just not real bright.
JRC - you afraid your investors are reading this site?
Your ministry of propaganda is fooling no one!
Isn’t it special when HR joins the rant with their take?
Most customers don’t even know anything changed unless the former manager complained on their way out. Follett did lose some institutional knowledge and I feel bad for anyone impacted, but for years everyone has said why do we keep doing things the same way and expect different results. Well someone different happened. Some people will just complain regardless. We won’t know for a while if it will make things better or worse.
The rental check-in process is fairly basic, so rentals that made their way to the register were probably done correctly— although, in typical Follett fashion, there IS actually a wrong and a right way to do it and probably 6 different outdated documents on the quad describing a process that may or may not be accurate. 😂 Hint: the right way involves 4 separate log-ins and sacrificing your first born child. Don’t listen to home office down there speaking for all of us. It may have gotten done but it certainly was not fun with little to no support. Luckily, most customers just felt bad rather than being annoyed that they had to wait so long.
Stores are doing well after trimming the fat of old employees who can't adapt.
The converse of that is also true. An investment company wouldn’t buy if there weren’t a chance to make money. Physical textbook sales are down. That’s what the Follett family knew how to do. They couldn’t adapt to digital textbooks. Digital text sales are way up with way less overhead. GM sales with better margin are up. They also cut a lot of overpaid employees that also couldn’t adapt. The reality is you can’t listen to a bunch of people who are bitter they got laid off.
The Follett family would not have sold if the business was profitable and viable going forward. JRC blew it for their investors. You can't bank happy talk and posting nonsense here doesn't make it true.
Sales are down like 10 percent a year, but everything is going great!😂
Sorry, I don’t know how truthful of a response you’ll get from the people that are still there. These sound like corporate responses. There’s no way that things went smoothly at most of the stores.
No change in breakage rate in our area. Rentals have been mostly replaced by IA digital but we still checked in over 1000 units in a week with little effort at the register. Buyback is basically a dead program between rental and digital so transactions are fast and easy. And no revenue drop either.
Rentals are way down as students prefer digital and schools adopt IA. Another reason less in store support is needed with way fewer books. Managers were offered less money because in many stores there is less to do. If a store went from 4 million to 800k over in sales over 8 years you can’t keep the same manager at 60k. Several posts seeking validation but the reality most stores are fine. Sorry if you don’t want to hear that.
