Buddy app on every laptop

I read the document "HR Privacy Notice" a while ago and found a passage regarding software for monitoring work time, applications opened and pages selected called "Buddy." Does anyone know what this application is? Detailed description on page 11.

It's a stupid tool and I'll tell you why. It provides no nuance or context. If you have two employees, let's say developers, and one is high performing and efficient. The other has medium knowledge but is inefficient as heck. Employee A gets the project done in two hours. Then spends the next 6 hours helping someone else. Employee B works on the same project for 8 hours and doesn't get it done.

Employee B has a lot more keystrokes than Employee A for the 8 hour period. The monitoring software says employee B is "working harder".

Are you going to fire your top performer (A) and reward your mediocre employee (B)?

This is what managers or for. Scouring these reports for some kind of usable data is an exercise in futility. It would only be employees by a leader with zero people skills and the personality of a grapefruit.

This isn’t new at all. It’s been on our laptops for several months and, in many cases, more than a year.

What this application is? A micromanagement tool. I don't care much about it though as it only proves how much hours I put into my work. I have no idea why would they want to spend money on this. My computer is slow enough, more spyware don't help.

They can do whatever they want, however if they want to be suspicious, micromanaging aholes then they will alienate their staff and any decent employee will leave. So they've got that going for them.

Any software called Sapience BUDDY is not your buddy. I have been told it needs to record 6 and a 1/2 hours every day to keep you off a list. It is not very accurate. If you are in a meeting and are trying to listen and absorb, you best be typing Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

The program is called Sapience and seems to be wrong quite a bit on hours. Some days show more hours than worked, other days are short. My next level does not Trust what it says either. I do my work and ignore it anymore not caring what it reports.

Yes, it tracks exactly what it says it does. You can view your individual work time and your manager/director/vp can track everyone’s work time.
