Did they get notified as well this week or do they find out when they are back at work?

Legally they cannot lay anyone off who is on leave. Vacation may be different but leave (maternity, disability, etc) is protected. They'll be notified as soon as they get back though with an immediate off payroll date most likely.
It sounds like this varies by department. I guess more could be coming if you were on leave or vacation.
Our Director Karen said dont call employees out on leave.... if they call and ask then we can tell them.. but dont call anybody
My good friend is a Supervisor is Customer Care. He took off 2 weeks ago to go Marry his HS sweetheart and go on a honeymoon vacation. He was notified via phone call on Thursday morning that he was forced into severance.
A few years back. My co worker was out on maternity leave. We had a rif before she came back. The day after she came back from leave she was let go.
I was iut this werk and return on tuesday to a 15 minute one on one first thing in the am. I havnt had a one one this year so maybe it is my time.
If they are on leave they usually don’t get formally notified till they return
