Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Respond In Kind - Customer Service, Inside Sales, Business, and IT

I'm seeing this on two social media sites.

Current employees who know that their departments will be going away or shipped overseas are planning on purposely doing poor work.

I'm not sure how others feel about this. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I know that morale is terrible in CS. I know that Hans is being rewarded for tearing down a once proud domestic corporation.

Maybe we should return the favor. Maybe, I'm wrong. I know I want to vomit when I read all the BS on our internal website. They don't care about us at all.

Is it time to push customers to other carriers?

Honestly I did this for the last 5 years that I worked for vz. Felt like I continued to make less money so I purposely did less work. I didn't go above and beyond. I didn't read anything in the trainings just clicked next a bunch, never paid any attention during meetings, usually had my headphones in. Never knew the promos and didn't really care about pitching extras items. And yet I still got through under the radar til the day I left. And let me tell you, I don't regret it and I am a million times happier for leaving this shithole of a company. Find what makes you happy and run if you can. Maybe even sprint.

Been through it.

Best advice is be professional, knowing that you do get a severance. I took a few sick days, knowing I had the right to take them and that I had no intention of coming back to Verizon. I didn’t feel like I had to impress anybody when it came to my work ethic.

As many have said, there is life outside Verizon and you do have a value. Good luck to anybody impacted. No matter how paltry it may be, you get to leave this s*** show with parting gifts.

DON’T throw away your severance! We need to work harder now than we ever have until we get our money! I know this is a hard pill to swallow but it’s life and I think a lot of us need this change. Hans is not above coming up with any reason he can to sc--w us on the way out. Don’t give him the satisfaction!!!

Don’t look for ways to lose the severance package, folks. A work slowdown or causing chaos is one way to get kicked out without ANY compensation. Stupid move and shocking some would find nothing wrong with that. Wow

This is a terrible idea. You can still be terminated for cause and lose both your severance and your job… and any unemployment benefits. Verizon will be watching for this kind of bwhavior. The management isn’t stupid. As much as it hurts to be layed off from a job remember it’s not personal. It’s a natural state of any business so people that seeth in it and plot revenge are misguided. Focus on you and your next move and always do the best job you can while you’re getting paid to do it. You’ll be both happier and much more successful in life,

So the plan is to mess with customers' accounts as "payback" for what occurred this week, huh?

Make a fellow brother or sister that has no fault in this situation, and who may be struggling badly, pay the consequences by messing with their service and potentially their bill?

Unbelievable. The reasoning of some people is just unbelievable. No wonder this country's in deep sh*t.

If this is the case it’s highly inappropriate to mess with customers in this way. As someone who has been impacted before I would never compromise the customers because of my emotional response given the circumstance. If anything when I was on my last days I made sure I tied up all loose ends as best I could. As someone who JUST went through this , that is definitely not the way and why give up so easily if there’s still an opportunity to stay on board with the preference option.

I wouldn't try or do anything to get fired but I wouldn't go above and beyond.
