Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Patent liaisons hit at 70-80% and also a shift to less patent attorneys. More emphasis on the other side of legal now. Hasn’t happened yet but I’d expect same for OUS eventually.

To the poster who said there are still worthless positions - where ? I don’t see any fat anymore. I see people not doing their f’ing job but that doesn’t mean the position isn’t needed. There is a sh-t ton of quiet quitting happening now.

Only fat I’m seeing are the mgmt positions. All those upper levels still posting 3M amplify on LinkedIn - hitting “like” on the vacuous Yammer posts, clapping in Town Halls - kick their (_|_) to the curb.

What I see it is patent liaison about 75% cut. At least for SIBG it is 1 instead of 4 now. Which is ridiculous as 4 were already too few.

Under the Amy M umbrella, there were 55 cut out of 600. Central org handling pricing, POS, CSRs, master data and reporting.

Most if not all US plants were hit again this week. I know Menomonie and Hutchinson both had significant cuts - after already having the first round earlier this year as part of the 2500 mfg job reductions. There was no more fat left to cut.

Seems like everything in the U.S. was corporate. I've yet to see anything in local plants which is sad seeing how many useless support positions are here. 3m has no oversight. Cut the fat.

Well, in the last few weeks, I'm aware of the following in the US:

• Manufacturing Technology getting absolutely gutted (nearly 50% cut)
• Supply Chain and LVS hit hard
• Sourcing
• Labs in both CBG and SIBG, again
• Corporate strategy
• Patent liaisons getting hit hard (50%?)
• Salaried cuts at several plants, all RemainCo as I've heard so far
• Oh, and some a--hole named Vale getting shown the door

I'm sure others will chime in with placed I missed, but 3M is well on the way to cut the numbers this quarter yet.
