Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

CS LAYOFFS

Sat in a meeting with 6k other people just to be told there’s lay offs happening, no supervisors had any additional information of who is getting laid off. We were told to wait till tomorrow for more information and head back into calls like we didn’t just get told we might be losing our jobs tomorrow ..? Like tf Hans, you really need another yacht that bad huh? And on top of that no one has any information on the severance package they’re offering. I hope y’all took personal time for the rest of the day like my team did. There was no way I was going back on calls with the idea in mind that I won’t have a job tomorrow.

I left the company in 2019 after 2+ decades in the business. I was not a fan of the new CEO at that time... I'm still not a fan. I wish everyone the best. Please know there is life after VZW... although I know this is difficult. I wish you the best!

Hey all,
Hopefully I can shed more light. I too am impacted as my entire team is impacted. I’m a sup in CS. We literally got zero heads up and even today SM’s were slightly clueless. I had to talk to my SM to get a clear understanding and read my severance package to completely understand. Frontline reps will have to preference by 6/7 the 3 in order of preference (loyalty, technology and customer) that you want IF you want to stay with VZ. If you don’t then take severance and you will be done by 6/30. My boss was shocked I was included in the affected group since I’m high performing and always have the best remarks. He was unsure the criteria used. I told my team immediately after the news with Nancy to have plan A but also a plan B in case. Set yourself up for success. Weight pros and cons and realize VZ isn’t the company it used to be.

I’m so angry about this because there was no clarity today about what is going to happen. Myself and others who were off today had to find this out by texting coworkers who were in today, and even the folks who were in the office had no clue if their job is safe or not.

The std Verizon severance package is 2 weeks per year of service, capped at 35 weeks for bands 6 and below. It includes prorated bonus and medical coverage for the entire severance period. Your unused vacation is paid out and, depending on your state, your personal days.
