Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Fiber Deployment

AT&T is ten years behind in fiber deployment due to the fiasco of wasted time and resources of the TW and DTV mergers. Ed Whitacre had started fiber with Project Pronto before he retired.

Whitacre built a strong wireless presence, had little debt on the balance sheet and was on the way to building out fiber.

Stephenson was handed the company on a silver platter and he wrecked it. Stankey his top lieutenant went along and made things worse.

Things are going to be more chaotic with this hub consolidation and massive layoffs!!

Why they don’t change the name and instead of using the word ‘hub’ call it what it is a labour camp or concentration camp?

Yes, exactly that. Free ride in the cattle car to your final destination.

Yeah right, creating labor camps!
And Stankey is loading the cattle cars as we speak. Is that what you are implying?

Another FIASCO. And idea of creating few labour camps and forcing people to go there and then get rid of them is not new. Check history. It did nit work.

4% is not a massive layoff. People with skills and personality will move on and the unskilled drips will begrudgingly commute 4 hours a day to their new location bringing their resentment and anger with them three days a week.
