Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Putting my papers in

I'm resigning next week. Is there anything I should be aware of? Will they honor my 3 week notice period?

The most I have ever seen is to work 1 more week. If going to a competitor you must plan to be walked (zoomed) out that same day.

Only give 2 weeks and have everything wrapped up ahead of the day you give the notice.

If you're leaving because you're unhappy, try to come up with a vague reason for leaving.

"They made me an offer I couldn't refuse" is the only answer to give. NEVER complain, NEVER explain and never tell them where you are going. Your so-called work "friends" could very well make the time you have left miserable.

Like others have said, they may accept your three-week notice or walk you out that day. Be prepared for anything. Before you give your notice you might want to clear your office of anything you want to keep and download any files you want to keep.

You may want to offer a two-week notice to wrap up any work and transfer your projects to someone else. But also say you realize that your leaving might be distracting for the rest of the team and offer to leave sooner. If they want you to stay thru your notice period, try to keep it as professional as possible, which might be hard if you're really unhappy or disgruntled.

I was really really really unhappy in one of my jobs, and I gave a two-week notice that the employer let me ride out. It was really awkward. I stopped getting invited to meetings. All my work was re-assigned. Some co-workers acted weird, others kept hounding me about why I was leaving. I wish I had offered to leave ASAP.

If you're leaving because you're unhappy, try to come up with a vague reason for leaving. People will keep asking during your notice period, and future employers will ask you why you left too.

Only give two weeks and NEVER say where you are going, Nobody's business to know, least of all, O. I made the mistake of giving three and (not at O) I ended up getting dumped on to the point I just said "f*** it" and just stopped. Went in late and left early. They finally got the message. Be a professional, but don't be a chump.

IF they want to walk you out the door, fine, Let them enjoy cleaning up the loose ends. Not you problem.

How did it go?

Every person that has left on one of my teams... was let go at the end of the day they gave notice or end of that week. If you are going to a competitor- EOD. If other- they will let you wrap up things but I have not in my four years seen any person serve out their notice period.

Why are you giving 3 weeks notice? Professional etiquette is 2 weeks.

be prepared for your boss to beg you to stay... It's oracle so be prepared to complete all your projects before you quit.

You should not accept a counter offer. Yo will always be viewed as dubious loyalty.

Best decision ever. Hopefully you are walking into something else.

Don’t know your situation but if you don’t have something lined up or if you do and can extend your start a tad longer don’t resign just yet. You should wait 1 more month in case you’re on the lucky RIF list and get severance

Only if you are going to a competitor do they make you walk. Unless they want to counter offer you also (which does still happen during this time)
