Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Where is the accountability? What happened to an honest day of work?

A few years back when every department was ‘silo-d’ there has since been no responsibility taken in the regional locations. Directors/Managers/Supervisors don’t even work in same buildings as their subordinates. No supervision what so ever. Employees when they do show up report to an office they are not even assigned to. Refuse to go to their assigned office probably cause their Supervisor works out of that one and they might be caught “dogging” it all day. Come in late, leave early, take 2 hour lunches. The ones who do have their Supervisor in the same location are micro managed. Get told nothing can be done about the slackers cause it ain’t their problem. What happened to putting in a honest days work?

Honesty is non-existent @ Enbridge. The longer you work here the more you'll see how things operate.

The company must be honest if they expect the employees to be honest. I don’t see this changing anytime soon.

Alot of people slack off. Even the unionized staff. They slack all day to build up their work then ask for overtime. Its inexcusable. Constant chatting and gossip among workers.
I saw one clerk look at vacation packages all day then asked the people leader for over time.
The pay must be pretty decent for them to want to stay after hours so much.

I think it's funny when millennial kids call anyone older than them a "boomer". 😄

Hello people! Is this a shocker to most of y’all? This has been going on in Houston since March of 2017. Most of the managers will skip out early most days. The employees do the same. A handful would actually stay late and put in work. Those who stay late and actually work don’t earn brownie points.

Wasn’t it from the President’s level that said ALL employees have to come into office 3 days a week? Most employees can’t even seem to do that. Their managers aren’t even doing it. They allowing their employees to do same. Since when do they over rule the President of the company? How is this fair? Don’t even mention the extra time to be put in for Flex week participation! Work ethic? What’s that even mean anymore?

Honest days work??? What does that even mean anymore? Like when we all worked on production lines and the factory floor, it made sense, you saw your value/production. But a manager who lets say gets in early and leaves late but all they do is sit in mindless meetings all day that don’t accomplish anything…is that better?

It’s hard to be focused and productive when the goal structure sucks. Most haven’t even completed their goals and it’s mid year? Most goals for STIP aren’t smart goals or cascaded down. I put this directly on management. If an employee can go in and goof off and meets their supervisors goals…more power to them.

Baby boomers being the most productive generation is a bit hokey. They were not the magical unicorns they make themselves out to be - and I would guess their parents / previous generation made the same comment about them.

Ageism is not the culprit here.

The MBA’s took over. No more honest work with MBAs, just politics and (false) prophets (profits).

MBA culture and management by spreadsheet in all aspects of this company have destroyed the culture.
