Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Just got layoff notice - can i negotiate severance at all?

I'm in sales - I have a few deals that are set to close right after my last day. Is it possible to have them pay me for those even though they will "book" after I have left?

I haven't signed my severance package yet.

I'm happy to leave this miserable place but it would be nice to get paid on these - I've been working on some for months

I'm only over 40, will EEOC complaint still work?

If you are over 50, file a case with the EEOC office. State that you were laid off and they wanted you to sign an agreement that may prevent you from getting paid and a younger person will be assigned the deal(s).
Objective is to get an EEOC case #. Oracle will immediately negotiate to avoid a formal EEOC case from progressing

Oracle is a weird company. They let me go about 6 months ago and for the past 3 weeks I've been getting emails sent to me to rejoin Oracle. wtf?

"someone else will get the compensation who has done 0 work, and I who have done 100% of the work will get 0! "
Seems like you may not have been in Oracle Sales for very long. This sort of thing happens constantly. Some people make a career out of it.

You have to be in the seat on the day that the deal books. So, get the customer to sign TOMORROW or on a day prior to your separation from the company.
I have known people leave Oracle after closing a deal but before they got the commission. They did get the commission paid to them later.
See how good your sales chops really are! I'll bet you can close at least one of these live deals asap.

Your sales plan details the aspects of compensation post exit. It’s at the “discretion of oracle”. A good manager May push to get this recognized. I left a while back and als ways lawyer up to have your interests met, as oracle will naturally only look for themselves. The client could walk but may not be likely. Although in my case when I left the client I was about to contract with for cloud walked away. Was a major deal in the 10’s millions, naturally sometimes customers will go elsewhere depending on risk, options, and delivery pressures. Some sales folk still scratching their head asking why the deal didn’t close. People buy from people!

Only way to get paid is to get a lawyer. Be prepared Oracle is used to law suits from sales people they rip off.

I know its a tall order to expect to get comped for these right after my last day but someone else will get the compensation who has done 0 work, and I who have done 100% of the work will get 0! How comical.

My manager who I am in good terms with and know for quite some time said he would try to see what he can do but I am not too optimistic.

I actually am quite happy to leave the company. Some of the management and internal practices are by far the worst I have ever seen - I think I d-mbed down here and I became way too comfortable, and declined offers from other companies with much higher salaries - I learned a lesson that's for sure!

I’m sorry you got layed off …. Oracle does not do tye right thing … they certainly are not going to pay anyone but themselves far more than they deserve.

If I was one of the customers, I would walk away …sadly from your hard work.
I wouid think if they don’t care enough my account on the front end - laying off my Rep right before we got everything signed then, I’d be wasting my money ..
I’d also tell the competitor that I’m sure your customer has been taking with that I would definitely give them my account if they hire you.

Oracle is either in the dark ages about how they treat employees and customers. Or either they are demonic ….
It’s unbelievably stupid business the way they do things…. But also stupid how people don’t matter.
There are no guarantees for anyone - money is not everything but health is…. LE & SC could collapse physically and also fiscally. Things happen.
Sick Soros on them and see what happens.

We alll get back what we give.
Some of these Oracles fools are really going to be surprised in some sort of way.

You can’t go through life forever taking from others. Stupid to say that you can. The script has a way of flipping.

No, you're not going to get comp'd for those deals that close after you're RIF'd. Do you REALLY think Oracle is run by a bunch of sweethearts? Seriously?

So glad I left Oracle, after having been there for over 20 years. Best career decision I have ever made. No regrets.

Go read the terms and conditions in your compensation plan - that is only place where you can get clear guidance.

If they close, you should be paid, also, you should get commission checks for a few months while you’re gone
