Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Building consolidations??

Anyone hearing anything about combining facilities as part of this cost reduction? It could make sense to combine the smaller non-production facilities with Mounds View or RC.

I have having a similar thought earlier today. Commercial real estate is in big trouble this year thanks to high interest rates. Companies can’t afford to keep rolling over commercial loans if occupancy rates are low. I would expect Medtronic to consolidate offices in the Twin Cities eventually. These things don’t happen overnight though.

Memphis is a fraction of what it used to be,19 total floors 6 years ago but underutilized, down to 9 in half the buildings and more recently, down to only 4 floors total with floating cubes instead of dedicated cubes.

Wouldn't be surprised if they moved what's left of the brains in Memphis to that fancy new campus in Colorado.

Yes, closing Rice Creek East is already a known plan. Going to combine RTO mandates with eliminating dedicated offices, moving to a hoteling model everywhere.
