SAP Keeps UK Employees in the Dark for Months about Layoffs - Frustration Mounts!

What's up with SAP, seriously? UK employees have been left in the dark since late January 2023, with no news on the supposed layoffs that have been looming. It's like we're all sitting here twiddling our thumbs, waiting for something to happen. And now, we hear that the company is finally going to make an announcement on May 10th. Really? We've been kept in suspense for this long?

The worst part is that nobody knows who's going to be affected. Is it going to be just a few people, or is it going to be a mass culling? We have families to support, bills to pay, and yet, we're being left in limbo. How are we supposed to plan our futures when we don't even know if we'll have a job next month?

It's not just frustrating, it's downright disrespectful. We've given our time, energy, and loyalty to this company, and this is how we're being treated? It's like we're just numbers on a spreadsheet, disposable and replaceable.

And let's not forget about the impact this is having on morale. How are we supposed to stay motivated and productive when we're constantly worried about our jobs? It's a toxic environment that's affecting everyone, even those who aren't directly impacted by the layoffs.

SAP needs to get its act together and start treating its employees with the respect they deserve. We're not just cogs in a machine, we're human beings with lives and families to support. The least the company can do is keep us informed and show some empathy. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see what May 10th brings.

The UK MD does not care about the MU success or failure. Focus is on own promotion to the next level after 2-3 years.

Hey there!

I wanted to give you a heads up about the employee representatives who are involved in the redundancy process. Basically, they might not be as helpful as they seem. In fact, their main goal might just be to make the whole process smoother for the company, rather than for you and your fellow employees.

So if you're relying on these reps to look out for your interests, you might want to think again. It's important to keep fighting for what's best for you, because these guys might not have your back after all.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope this helps you stay informed and empowered during this difficult time.

@8bhh+1m89HyQ3 to make things worse, they say that they're legally prohibited from sharing the detailed information that we seek. It's just pure BS.
Yet, going to the gov.uk sites, that an employer intending to make his employees redundant, in the collective consultation, should follow, among other steps the following step:
"Respond to ANY requests for further information" (Ref. https://www.gov.uk/staff-redundant/redundancy-consultations)
These people think that we're ignorant people and that they can feed us the same **** day in day out

Having witnessed the inept all hands today by the totally inept UKI MD and leadership team, I am afraid this MU is doomed to failure. Shambolic!

@8bhh+1m89HyQ3 Why don't you open a separate topic about Poland, instead of spamming other topics related to other countries / regions? You are very annoying in your way.

A dedicated Poland topic would be 100% okay. Your behaviour, I have to say, is not.

Can someone confirm something about Poland too? Is it done, not done? There is no communication from HR

You ask good questions! Maybe that new buzzword-happy global lady in charge of the "Head of Global People Success Services" can help you! " After all, The NA people mentioned that this lady said we are all "organisms" in the "ecosystem" :)

To the UK poster I hate to break it to you, but you and everyone else are just a number on a spreadsheet. Despite all those phony awards for being the top 100 places to work based on culture and diversity!
The good ole white boys club in Germany still rule SAP. The US and UK will be hardest hit since they’re not protected by the works council union.
Move to Germany if you want 100% job security.
Please notes, a layoff is not the end of the road. Take time for yourself, regroup and the next job will be better than the last.

My org has effectively been in stasis since the US layoffs were announced as my team were heavily impacted. The wider L1 reorganisation (post the first restructuring) is not due until the end of May. So, perfectly timed to be hit by the the UK layoffs.

Of course, we still have Q1 results at the end of the week to get through so, motivation is running high!

it's more than a 100 people that will be laid off based on the number of days announced for the consultation (i.e 45 days). And for that and to comply with UK law, SAP needs to notify the UK insolvency services 45 days at least before any consultation starts with the employees names and occupation and the reasons of the intention to make them redundant.
The total number of days is then at least 90 days before any employee dismissal.

8% going in the UK. Highest number in Europe.

It’s been a shambles.

Think of it this way, you've had another 3 months to find another job! accepting the job is one thing, I wouldn't be surprised if Q1 sales fall off the cliff as people focus on themselves rather closing deals

WTF is downvoting this post? Every word is true. I used to be proud to say I worked for SAP, but this opportunistic "everyone else is doing it so lets see what we can get away with" cost-cutting exercise that has nothing to do with "restructuring" has left a very very bitter taste in the mouth.
