Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Grab your ankles. Expect 342 million dollars in layoff packages paid out Tuesday May 2nd 2023.

Final round (for this year) .... yay. 927 million in severance packages were allocated for FY23 which wraps up at the end of May.

Oracle used to layoff in June at the end of the fiscal year. The new and enhanced accounting system whacks people before the quarter ends. Tuesday is the new favorite for a sacking. The last Tuesday of the quarter. Oracle has instituted a black Tuesday.

Legend has it that the spector of the layoff king himself rises from the grave to oversee the process. At 5AM a shadowy figure gets in a ghostly limosine and travels from Alta Mesa Memorial Park to the Oracle office he once inhabited.

From the latest 10Q:

The total estimated restructuring costs associated with the 2022 Restructuring

Plan are up to $927 million and will be recorded to the restructuring expense line item within our condensed consolidated statements of operations as they are incurred. We recorded $359 million and $117 million of restructuring expenses in connection with the 2022 Restructuring Plan in the first nine months of fiscal 2023 and 2022, respectively. We expect to incur some of the estimated remaining $342 million through the end of fiscal 2023.

Oracle Cerner got a taste in March.

One commenter on TheLayoff.com said the job cuts were rumored to be 10% of the Oracle Cerner workforce. Commenters on Reddit said they also had heard that figure.

A loud cry was heard from over a thousand souls that was suddenly silenced as they received the news. They were never to be seen again on the Cerner campus.

The 10Q has 342 million to be paid out... it will be noticeable as many will suffer the same fate in about 20 days. Who knows where the cuts will be? I feel fairly certain it will happen May 2 2023.

Also the ghost of the layoff king is probably even more restless now that BG is dating his widow. Tennis anyone?

Spread your cheeks!!

OP said this is the last round "for this year", but I think must have meant "for this FISCAL year".

Recall the MASSIVE layoff that went down in August 2022.. Likely another one just like it this year too!

You scare people. How do we know this is legit and a madeup story?

Which part? The 342 Million? ... or the Layoff King rising from the grave to oversee the layoff process?

10Q may be a lie, but if so Oracle lied to the SEC

The legend of the "Layoff King" rising from the grave might be an old wives tale. Legend has it that he sold his soul for business success. He found his niche by being able to heartlessly lay off more than 60,000 hardworking, talented people during his career. He constantly worked, neglected his family, and gutted Oracle talent replacing them with fresh college grads who were paid much less than even offshore talent.

He was cursed by many of those he let go and died at any early age, but his soul cannot rest and he haunts the Oracle offices when his layoff plans are carried out. Computers have been seen scrolling through accounting ledgers on their own. More than one cleaning lady has seen his shadowy figure late a night during the layoffs, as well as office workers who arrive very early in the morning. He has no hair and looks very gaunt, and has been heard moaning and fretting about profits and the stock price. Occasionally he is heard muttering about the Oracle cloud its high cost and lack of progress.

June 1st appearing to be the day... where does this "appear". The cost is for this fiscal, not next.

If people are notified May 2, then last day around the 15th if no Warn notice required in the US then severance can hit this year’s books before end of the fiscal.

Anything later is an expense for next fiscal.

Save your Pennies.

You will find a new job, but probably not in tech.

This is not a made up bedtime story, this is very real. June 1, appears to be the day hardworking folks and slackers will be let go. Glorious people, I beg you to get in your doctors appointments, dental cleanings and meds all in just in case you are let go. Peace and love to all.. Let’s remember to be kind to one another.

May 2nd is the date that they are requiring a bunch of employees to come back into the office so I’d imagine they’d wait to see how many employees quit due to that before starting another round. My guess the following week or two weeks after is when we see the bill of the remaining cuts.

Sort of like when the De*th Star nuked that planet in Star Wars.
