We’re a bunch of developers working hard here, and today I found out that the upcoming related project was handed entirely over to the India team for development. Mind you, they already know that the India team uses a lot of AI, and we’ve had a bunch of bugs because of it. So now we’re basically left with nothing. Maybe we’re just waiting to get laid off?

@df with over 52% of employees in India - IBM is now no longer a US company. It is an Indian company. The US government should not be giving us sensitive confidential and top secret contracts and work

I remember, sitting in a roundtable, with one slimy and useless executive. He/She used the same argument on us to allow the Indians into our product. This occurred more than 10 years ago.
They use a lot of AI because they lack "I". Coding is a bit different than English language writing, but not enough so people who speak English as a second language can't handle the nuances of a native English speaker. But IBM does not care. Cheaper is better is the current IBM mantra.
In February 2025, My product welcomed about 100 India based employees, the bosses said that they came to “help us” with routine tasks, so we could focus on high priority items. We were all let go (about 200 NA employees) in November (less than 20 employees dodged the layoff). So it is up to you to train or not the newcomers, but it is time to look at your next career move.
@OP you are fu---d. Don’t get comfortable. Things might calm down and return back to normal, but make no mistake of it your time with IBM is coming to an end
My guess, you have less than 6 month to jump ship. Most likely, you will asked to do some knowledge transfer sessions and over all the project documentation.
Advice, don't be nice to the Indians. Provide them with minimum data. Don't make an effort for them to understand.

Its really sad but I'm not surprised. IBM doesn't care about putting out quality products. The software I support worked really well until IBM decided they could run it on an OS cluster and charge customers even more for it. Guess what - we're losing those customers one at a time.
