What do you think is the over/under on a red state move? Nepo baby bluster or genuine concern?

@11b I want to meet these Caribbean remote workers to see if they are as overpaid and useless as people are saying.
@12q Weird. California has been the No. 1 state for people moving to Tennessee every year over the past few years.
@11r No worries, I don’t know any Californians who have any desire to move to Nashville.
Tennesseans are sick of Californians ruining Nashville. Just know thats how the locals see it.
We are moving to Puerto Rico to be with the Caribbean remote workers.
@wn Yep, part of the deal requires operations to stay put in California. But I wouldn’t put it past DE to still look for ways to move divisions into cheaper areas.
With the merger, does this mean we're not moving?
@qx the good employees will quit. paramount simply isn't paying enough to keep their talent if they want 5 days in office. when they initially demanded 5 day RTO, i started looking for a new job and ended up at a place paying me almost double what Paramount was, with a 3 days in office requirement.
@ka Do you really think they won’t insist on RTO for the people who got exemptions once there is a steady stream of WB employees waiting to take their places?
@OP I presume any movement only affects the LA office? We have scattered people all around the west coast due to lack of RTO enforcement. I'm guessing on paper we move, but no one actually does since they don't go into the office to begin with. If the studios move instead of the headquarters, it will su-k but we'll recover. Most of the highly paid people will just fly out as needed. I do feel bad for the crews and labor that can't afford to relocate.
@e1 Highly doubtful unless Paramount moves to the middle of nowhere. Major cities in Texas and Nashville aren't cheap if you want to live anywhere close to the cities. If you're willing to commute a decent amount, maybe. Don't know about Nashville, but most major cities in Texas (Dallas/Houston/Austin/San Antonio) have horrible traffic and heatwaves that make LA look like Iceland.
@cp Yes because of decisions that were made decades ago. It takes only a few large companies to leave for everything to crumble. And the process already started.
@cp this is such a lame argument, as if being a fourth-largest economy in the world is some sort of immutable characteristic California is inherently entitled to. Becoming fourth largest economy in the world is a product of policy choices California made in the past. It may and it absolutely will loose that status with policy choices that it is making in present. For example, California Labor Code § 2870 is a single reason why Silicon Valley emerged in California and not somewhere else. Does it look like California has political climate lately for more regulations like that to emerge? No it does not. All it has is a bunch of snowflakes boasting “but we are fourth largest economy in the world” that probably don’t even ever heard of California Labor Code § 2870 and completely clueless of cause and effect in their economy. The house or cards is hard and slow to build but extremely fast and easy to collapse. It takes very few large companies and individuals to move out and your entire state follows the footsteps of Detroit, and the wheels are already in motion.
Give me Texas or Tennessee any day of the week. I can buy a 230k 5 bed 2 bath house right now if I wanted to. I’m stuck renting in this damn state forever.
@a6 California wants you, most people just don’t want the bullsh-t that comes with Nepo baby and his control of the news landscape
@bk California is the fourth-largest economy in the world when compared to individual countries. I suggest you move to a red state with a booming economy such as Alabama, Arkansas or Louisiana.
Any other state is a better choice than California. California is corrupt to the core. Politically, it runs like a Third World country.
@as Do we have employees in Puerto Rico?
I hope we move to Puerto Rico!
@a6 I would move a heartbeat, but there’s not enough money on earth to make me want to live in Texas/Georgia/Tennessee. The Carribean? Maybe…
I don’t think it will happen because the merger will eventually go through. If not he’s 100% leaving California. There is zero reason to stay.
No concern. Only excitement. Clearly California doesn’t want us. Time to move on.
