Cisco on Wednesday released urgent patches for a critical-severity authentication bypass vulnerability in Identity Services Engine (ISE) that has been exploited in the wild as a zero-day.

These are mythos discovered vulnerabilities. The whole industry has them right now. You just exposed your ignorance.

Yes, but most companies don't cut and paste code dozen of times in a branch then fork the code into many hundreds of release branches with no process to propagate fixes from branch to branch so each bug must be discovered, filed, triaged and fixed independently many times on each of hundreds of branches. They don't write multi-thousand line functions no one understands so even after a decade of bug fixing they still don't work. They don't have branches that fail to build all but one or two days a month and sometimes not build for many months at a time. He-l, some of their employees even passed Remedial Data Structures 002 and can write functions to deterministically remove elements of a data structure. They don't have massive test plans with no steps to perform and no pass/fail criteria.
Mistakes occur everywhere. Cisco went above and beyond when they knew what they were doing was going to be profoundly stupid but bought into the cult created by management and HR saying "we only hire the top 5%" so it became a matter of pride for many to claim they could make something work no one else in the world could make work. Plenty of projects overran budgets by factors of dozens and some performance and bug fixing projects left the code slower and more buggy. Since no one can risk admitting they completely sc--wed up everyone lies to themselves and everyone around them claiming they succeeded where everyone else would have failed when it was in fact the exact opposite of reality.
