Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I just had a meeting with hr. A toxic work environment is the norm. I outlined over 20 years of workplace harassment and discrimination. They actually said if it wasn't in the last year they were fine with it. Stuff that violates the ADA and just pure harassment. I could not believe they could actually write it all off. F this company. I am done doing anything but the pure minimum. Not even sure I'll do that much. They really just want me to die or just fire me. F them all.

@ee Are you referring to our current culture as a company or as a country? Today, I'm seeing more young females being aggressive than males. For example, looking at the girls softball team members in comparison to boys baseball. If those girls were around when I was in school 50 years ago, I would hide. There are a lot of bruisers out there. In the workplace, females tend to be more aggressive than males, and less emphatic with other females. It is like being on "Survivors" with different personalities of different employees, trying to stab each other to get ahead. Just a few more years to play this game.

@e5 Not PC to say, but feminism has been a spectacular failure. What exactly are the wins—turning women into men and men into women? Look around BofA: men completely emasculated by their female bosses, all in the name of money and “progress.”

@aa all that! But there are natural shifts through the course of a person's career that change perspective. In the first 10 or 15 years, probably more apt to want to climb. After that, well, lots of forks in the road that come with life, family, health, you name it.

Completely agree that work is not family. Your tribe is your tribe... and work folks are not in it.

Some managers here are wonderful folks, and some are not. But even the great ones are handcuffed.

People share way too much and they are too close to the managers. Friendships and managers don’t mix. Toxic managers are everywhere. Let’s be Facebook friends and I’ll promote someone on my friend list

@OP same like you stopped caring about the how I was perceived by my coworkers , stopped working after hours to get things completed , stopped wanting to climb the career ladder and making the next promotion, stopped name dropping executives who I interacted with to make myself sound ‘important’ . But unlike you , I feel great about it, in fact , I wonder how I could have been so stupid thinking all those mattered. I’m not burnt out , I have coworkers around me still competing and backstabbing and I’m like ‘f**k that’ . Do your job and go home. Your coworkers are NOT your family ,
