Look at it as an opportunity to leave this place for good with a safety net. Let's be realistic, how many other companies are as bad as Optum? I'm comfortable saying very few. So wherever you go from here should be an upgrade, even if it takes a while to find it.

You are on a layoff site. Smh
Safety Net? Some folks have loved ones going through treatments, are caregivers for family members, or children in college- 3 months' pay AND Health care cut off like a gangrenous arm is no safety net
LoL. I won’t call the severance pay a “safety net”.
Their severance is absolute sh-t compared to say a tech company s where it's multiple months of pay + PTO + healthcare and maybe even stock vests
Here you're lucky to get 2 weeks + 2-6 weeks of pay depending on years of service. Hardly a cushion for most people
Kind of a cr-p thing to post.... Everyone's financial situation is different. A few of us lucky ones may get to call a layoff early retirement.... While other's will be hurting.....
Most people have little savings and cannot go that long without a job. Generally they are the lower paying jobs so they should be able to find something similar per hr more easily
But if you are higher paid with no savings safety net you could be in trouble if you are laid off. Cut those expenses down now
The pay and benefits are better at Optum than the company I came from after a layoff. People who think the grass is greener outside of Optum may not know what the job market has been for the past couple years. I would say it on par with other companies.
@OP For many 5-6 weeks of severance pay can hardly be called a safety net. Although individual situations do vary and job market uncertainty is a new normal for any field.
